I have a strong feeling that everybody in beauty community, either on YouTube or on Instagram, were just obsessed with the brand new Naked palette that Urban Decay released this summer. Of course, I was excited too! Not only because it's addition to the Naked family, but because it's a smoky palette with a little bit dark and sexy hint to it. Isn't it great to have the palette with sexy colors in your collection? As everybody on the internet were raving about it and the swatches were great, I decided to buy it, but couldn't, as Sephora unfortunately doesn't send it abroad. But the Nordstrom does! And though the shipping cost were insane, I had to have it in my collection.
When it finally came and I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised at how gorgeous the packaging was in real life! Much better than in photos! It so sexy and slick. Quite heavy, but I'm not going to bring it with me in trips anyways, so it doesn't matter. The case itself is translucent with the smoke pattern on it. The Naked Smoky has a full-sized mirrow inside and a dual-ended brush. Honestly speaking, I love this brush, the quality is great. One side is a fluffy blending brush and the other is a compact pencil brush for presize application.
The shadows itself are very smooth and buttery, the color payoff is beyond words. It doesn't creases on me and stays all day long. The shimmery colors don't have chunks of glitter in it, they are very smooth and have a nice sheen to it. And, you know, it's always a plus. Mattes don't shed, whatsoever, and have a great pigmentation, while satins are very buttery and blendable.
This pallet has 12 shades: 4 mattes, 4 satins and 4 glittery ones. It has a great variety of colors. There are your grays, browns, plump color, warm brown color, gorgeous golden etc. It's a great palette with a plenty of opportunities. You can go with a sexy evening look, but also you can actually create a great daytime look. If you'll be light-handed, you can make UD Naked Smoky your everyday palette for work or even for school. I tried it myself. Actually I can't wear heavy looks on my job, but I managed to create quite light, though sexy looks with the help of this palette.
I really like all the colors, there isn't any color that I disguise. Isn't it amazing?! There are always hits and misses. But this palette is, hands down, the best in color choice. Of course I have the most favorite ones. They are: "High" - a beautiful shimmery rosy-beige color, "Dirty Sweet" - gorgeous golden shimmery color, very smooth and buttery, "Slanted" - bluish gray shimmery one, so subtle and gentle, "Combust" - great transition or crease color.
So as you can see, it's a very versatile palette that can be used either for work or for party. And many people on the internet were saying that it's the greatest one among Naked palettes. And I have to agree. Can't wait to play around with it and see what looks I can create.
